What type of cable to use for wifi antenna?

That's the wrong cable. You most likely need one with a connector called "reverse-polarity TNC" to mate with your Linksys. They're not too hard to find. But beware of trying to use a long cable - at the frequencies involved, losses in the cable are quite high. You may be better off replacing the antenna with a higher gain one such as this:

Will I get signal loss using a 10 foot wifi antenna extension cable? am I better off using a usb wifi + cable

Your idea of the extended antenna cablesshould give you some increased signal streangth, but For better coverage I would suggest purchasing a range booster. Since you are using a linksys router I would suggest the below product.

You will not have to have any wires laying around as it does not use any ethernet connection but only wireless. The only cord to it is the power cord.
