WGA Members Say 'Yes' To Credit Revision

Members of the Writers Guild of America have strongly endorsed a revision in the screen credits manual to ease the rules that govern how some of its more powerful members receive screenplay credit.

The guild announced Friday that 85.7% of votes (1,237 "yes" votes and 197 "no') were cast in favor of a revamp that will equalize the screen credit rules for writers who double as directors or producers -- but only on non-original scripts.

The WGA did not comment on the results in an email to members other than noting that the changes go into effect immediately.

The revamp did not generate any major opposition among guild members. Guild leaders had campained for the screen credits change, contending that it would smooth the way for entrepreneurial-minded writers to take control of their own material.

The leaders said in April that the revamp, blessed unanimously at the WGA West board

anyone have problems with screen wrinkles or waves in manual projection screens? Better of with a DIY fixed?

I am glad you didn't buy the manual pull down screen. You will not be very happy with it. Cheap ones develop wrinkles fairly quickly and they will blow in the AC distorting your image.

Your best choice is to go with a fixed frame screen or make one yourself. Making one is going to cost you more than you think, especially since you can't paint your wall. Why not get a good fixed frame screen online. There are two companies that have very high quality fixed frame screens and the manufacturers sell only direct on the internet. Carada and Tribal Screens are the only ones who can give you quality at the lowest price.

I have a 92" Triba Projector Screen in my home theater with a Mitsubishi 720p HD projector. I love the picture quality. It is incredible!!!! When you move you can take your screen with you. As technology changes, you are going to upgrade your projector faster than you will your screen. It is worth the investment.

I have a DIY screen and it works ok for me. The only issue i had with mine is the screen material was wrinkled when I started. I waited for a warm day and stretched it in the sun. If your looking for a cheaper screen, I would look at www.monoprice.com. They have a 108 inch screen available for relatively cheap.

how many t-shirt you can print with manual silk screen printing in an hour?

If the shirts were already on the stretcher forms ahead of time, one could reasonably screen one every ten or fifteen seconds or so.

So, say fifteen seconds per shirt makes it four per minute times sixty minutes, equals 240 shirts.

But, of course, no one has 240 shirt forms handy and, working by oneself, one would have to pause, re flood the screen with ink, wipe up any splashes or loose drips, breathe, take a sip of water, etc.

In practical terms, a more reasonable would be about 100 shirts in an hour, using just a manual screen, on a hinge and regestration stops in place to help line up the shirt to the stencil.
